THE YOUNG HISTORIANS PROGRAM

A PROGRAM that ENLIVENS the STUDY OF HISTORY

Founded at MIT in 2001, the Young Historians Program has enlivened the study of history through combining subject matter depth with cutting-edge technology for over 20 years. In it’s most current iteration, the program engages K-12 schools in the study of the development of the British colonies in North America and the causes of the American Revolution. The program is run in schools in Great Britain and the United States. It culminates in a debate between students from both countries.

The Young Historians Program was an invaluable way to give our pupils a more global outlook. It motivated our students and fed their curiosity about other people’s cultures and history. Embarking on a cross-curriculum project with a school in New York was an ideal way to broaden our History curriculum.
